Sara here...
First of all, I'd like to say that I think that I have discovered that milk makes me bloated and gassy.
Second, I feel light and clean.
Third, I've learned that doing a raw food diet (not cheating) is ALMOST impossible, unless you can devote a lot of time and money to food and preparation.
Let's be honest with ourselves...okay, I'll be honest with myself. Cottage cheese is not raw. Ranch dressing is not raw. Granola...not raw. BUT overall...I've been pretty impressed with myself. I've been chomping on TONS of fruits and veggies (which may give me baby poop), and I've totally cut out all pop and sources of added sugar...so I'm feeling great.
Even if I am not going completely raw, I've definitely improved my diet and eating habits in a major way. My portions are smaller (probably because my stomach shrunk due to the lack of food I've been able to take in) and I'm not junking my body up with SUGAR. I love sugar, desserts, brownies, ice cream, Sheila's dream bars, cupcakes, etc... However, after 5 days of giving them up...I feel so much better and don't even crave them. The minieggs hidden at my desk don't even tempt me.
Amen.

Karyn's Raw Cafe
Yesterday Sara & I decided to educate ourselves a little better by going to Karyn's Raw Cafe. I will have to admit the place was awfully scary. It was like going into a vegetarian restaurant without the smell of incense & B.O. It was very overwhelming but we did get some good ideas as to what to make, things we would need to incorporate into our foods choices etc. The stuff there was very expensive so unless I get a very large raise I will not be able to do this for very long. We decided to purchase a recipe book, 2 bags of raw chips, one sweet potato which is NOT recommended & the other was a bag of Kale Chips which were tasty. We also got a coconut cracker which was tasty that Sara ate & I got a blueberry cracker. The blueberry cracker was pretty tasty, it was chock full of dehydrated blueberries & I can't figure out what the cracker was made of but it definitely had flax seeds in it. I finished the night with a large salad with a lot of veggies. On to day 3!

I came into work this morning to about 5 or 6 recipes which look pretty promising & I had a few emails form some friends on articles to read along with how to eat properly. We shall see what happens in the next few weeks.
Either way, I am aware that this is day 3 however all I want to do is eat a hot meal. I don't care anymore.

Lunch 5/2/11
well, I just finished lunch which consisted of a pound of strawberries, carrots & I have to admit I ate some cottage cheese. No, it was not raw but I couldn't look at another fruit or veggie. Just to let you all know, I will be going to a raw cafe tonight after work to get some better ideas of what Not to cook. Obviously I will keep you all informed. Signing off for now-Elizabeth.
HELP
Ok, it is me Elizabeth. I really feel the need to jump off this crazy train. I have no idea why I have allowed Sara to talk me into this. I know it is only day 2 but this is silly! I just read a list of foods I should be partaking in & half of these items sound like Ass! please see below:
1) hemp seeds, well let me tell you I was not aware that this was legal!
2) Millet, WTF is this!
3) Buckwheat? How is this even sold & then eaten
4) mung Beans, hmmm does not seem appealing
5) Adzuki Beans. No.
6) kimchee or other fermented foods. I believe I just threw up a little.
Even though it is day 2 I am soldiering on. I will be having a lunch filled with fresh fruits including strawberries. I literally bought a case of these on Sat so I am pretty sure I will develop a food allergy to strawberries at the end of all this.

May 2 - Day 2
I feel the need to express my feelings...
As I stuff myself with fruit this morning, I'm learning that I'm going to have to get creative. I'M STARVING. Fruit is not going to satisfy me. I THINK MY STOMACH IS EATING ITSELF. Now, most people would say...duh! You need to eat more and actually eat things like nuts, seeds, beans, legumes, raw caco nibs, etc. I'm working on that...
I may be hungry, but at least I feel good about not eating a donut and leftover Easter candy this morning.
On to the next "healthy" snack...

Welcome to our adventure...
Hello there! We have decided to embark on an adventure in the "raw food" world. Hoever, this has turned in to our own interpretation...so you may not necessarily think that we are hard core raw people...however, we are doing the best we can.
Now two days in on this adventure...the road has been rocky. It's time that we introduce ourselves...
Hello chaps, I'm Sara. I'm probably looking forward to this adventure much more than Elizabeth (Ruth, as I call her). Yesterday was "day one" and I enjoyed a fruity smoothy along with some sushi (yeah it was raw...don't worry about all that). I really didn't eat a lot yesterday, which is BAD. But after spending $140.00 at THE Jewel (as Ruth calls it), I will be stuffing myself full of this raw food for the remainder of the day. As I stare at the leftover mini-eggs in my candy dish that I can't eat until June...I'll be working hard to stay focused.
HI there, I am Elizabeth & I love food. All kinds of food. I agreed to join Sara on this adventure just to see what would happen. Sidenote: this woman (term used very loosely) just brought a dozen donuts in to temp us. I see through her, I know she is trying to side track us! I am on to her. Yesterday, my day one, all I wanted was pepperoni pizza & I don't even eat pepperoni. So I shoved melon, Jell-o & some edamame down my gullet. I am not sure if Jell-o is acceptable but I don't care. Since this is day 2 of this month of "raw" food I will see how the rest of the day goes. I am wondering, how bad would it be to really eat raw chicken?
And off we go!!!!!!
